How the Business Profit Score is built — and who built it

MyProfitsScore turns five everyday financial checks into a single 0–100 score and a clear next step. Here is exactly how it works, and why the person behind it built it this way.

MyProfitsScore

Built by a fellow caregiver and business owner — because I needed these metrics in one easy-to-find, easy-to-use place instead of juggling multiple spreadsheets and notes

Over 36 years of industry experience across two provinces

From being a fellow caregiver and business owner managing brokerage finances, commercial transactions, and strata and condo operations across Alberta and British Columbia — the score is designed for owners who need a clear, fast, honest read on financial health without an accounting degree.

The five core segments

The overall Business Profit Score is built only from these five core segments. Each is scored independently from 0–100, then combined into a single index with a letter grade and a status. Segments 6–10 are optional resources and do not affect the score.

Business Trend Tracker
Tracks whether your revenue is growing, flat, or declining over time.
Pay Your Bills On Time
Measures your current ratio — can you cover short-term obligations as they come due?
Stronger or Weaker?
Looks past raw sales to reveal what the trend is quietly telling you.
Be a Better Strategist
Examines your margins to show whether you are scaling profitably.
Profits vs. Cash Reality
Compares profit on paper to actual cash flow — because profit ≠ cash in hand.

Score, grade, and status

Scores run from 0–100. Strong means 75 and above — your business is financially healthy. Watch This (50–74) means monitoring a weak spot. Danger Zone (below 50) means fix now. The scorecard always shows the one priority that moves the number the most.
